Cremation Timeline
Steps in the cremation process:
- We bring your loved one into our care. (Immediately)
- We prepare the death certificate and send to the doctor for certification. (2-5 Days)
- After the doctor completes their portion of the death certificate, we can obtain the cremation permit.
- Once we have the permit, we schedule the cremation within the next 2 days.
- When the cremation is complete, we have your loved one's cremated remains ready for you the next business day.
***In summary, the cremation is normally complete in about a week.
- Many families use this time to:
- Choose urns, keepsakes, or final resting place
- Plan memorial service
- Pre-arrange for surviving spouse or other family members.

***Please note:
- These times are estimates. Doctors have 10 days to medically certify the death certificate, but most will sign within 2-5 days.
- Once the doctor certifies, we place the order for the official certificates, which usually arrive around 2 weeks after we place the order.
- By Texas state law, we must wait at least 48 hours from the time of death before the cremation can take place, even if we have a cremation permit.
